Sophomore Sid Iyer picked up the win for the Bells in a 1-0 decision over Mitty. Joey Pecoraro had the game's lone RBI driving in Nick Chew in the fifth inning. The win by Bellarmine, which faces St. Ignatius today, leaves St. Francis alone in first place in the West Catholic Athletic League.
Oak Ridge (over Sheldon) and Pleasant Grove (over Folsom) are the two frontrunners in the Delta River League after league sweeps this week. The Trojans own the tiebreaker over the Eagles with a pair of late inning wins. Both programs will be at the Boras Classic next week. Pleasant Grove is the defending Northern champion.
Corey Olivet went 3-for-4 with a triple and Cameron Ackerman added three RBI for Los Gatos in a 6-3 win over Westmont. Hunter Biggie had a double and two RBI for the Wildcats, which improved to 17-3. Ackerman went 4.1 innings on the mound for the win. The game featured two of the best public school programs in the Central Coast Section.
Amador Valley upended No. 3 California (5-2) for the Grizzlies' second league loss. Jake MacIntosh went 3-for-3 for the Dons and Austin Piscotty added two hits. The Grizzlies are the fourth team in the Top 5 to lose this week.
Livermore made it two in a row in the East Bay Athletic League with a 5-1 win over San Ramon Valley. Daniel Slominski went 3-for-3 in the win. Monte Vista shutout Foothill-Pleasanton, which lost to Livermore, 4-0 behind a complete game from Jonathan Freshman. He struck out nine batters while allowing just two hits. With De La Salle beating Granada (6-3), there are four teams in the EBAL with two losses.
Danny Cody got the RBI hit for Sacred Heart Prep and Will Johnston threw an eight inning shutout in a 1-0 win over Menlo-Atherton. Vanderbilt 2015 commit Matt McGarry was 1-0 with just four earned runs given up in 13 innings coming into Friday. Against the Gators, he had a no-hitter through seven innings before giving up a run in the eighth. He threw 7.2 innings of one hit ball with four walks and eight strikeouts. "I don't know if I've ever seen a game like this. A game like this you hate to see anyone take a loss," Sacred Heart Prep coach Tony Franceschi said to the San Jose Mercury News.
Valley Christian-Dublin earned a split with Head-Royce with a 5-0 win. Jared Dalrymple had a RBI and picked up his second win of the year.
