This year, the NCAA has enforced new guidelines and restricted the amount of viewing by college coaches as the fall evaluation period has become bigger and more competitive than ever allowing only two days or one weekend in October. Hence, Northern California will be home for two evaluation camps this weekend; Northern California Elite Showcase at Saint Mary's College and Sacramento Showcase at Highlands High School.

Players often use such events as a platform to create or validate their own individual identities. Many of the high caliber players are accustomed to the exposure and attention that these events tend to bring, but each year unfamiliar names emerge. Look for a couple of surprises at each camp.
Each camp will have its own draw of players with the Sacramento Showcase housing "The Main Attraction", Victoria Baugh, who will attract coaches from just about every major college program in America. Baugh hardly ever disappoints whether it be her blockbuster performances over the summer or her jaw-dropping attempt at a dunk in the spring at this very same event. Look for her to shine and continue to climb up the ranking charts.
This year's Showcase could attract its largest contingent of college coaches ever as recruiters from the Big West, WCC, WAC, Pac-10, along with top schools like Texas, LSU, Michigan St., and Oklahoma State are expected to be in attendance
The Northern California Elite Showcase, however, might possibly stake claim to the title of "Best in the West." This camp, unlike the ones in years past, will be special.
The effects of Hurricane Katrina forced adidas to cancel their fall event set to take place in Georgia. The cancellation forced some of the top players on the west coast to make the trip to Moraga instead. This infusion of talent will bolster an already loaded field. The NCE will now feature several of the nation's top players in their respective classes.
