SRV earns big road win

As if the East Bay Athletic League baseball standings weren't already crowded at the top, San Ramon Valley made it that much closer on Wednesday. The Wolves jumped out to a 9-1 lead over De La Salle and never looked back, winning 10-5.
SRV's offense exploded as they knocked Spartan starting pitcher Alex Ross out of the game after just one and one third innings of work. The Wolves would score nine of their 10 runs by the third inning led by junior Ryan Weisenberg and sophomore Nick Moroney who both knocked in two runs. Nick Poirier and Grant Hiramine went 3-for-4, driving in a run each.

Santa Clara commit Alex Barden gave up two earned runs and struck out six to earn the win for the Wolves. Senior pitcher Conor Neumann pitched a solid three and two-thirds innings in relief, giving up no runs and striking out six.
De La Salle did not see much success on the day at the plate, but infielder Myles Coston had an RBI-double and infielder Kevin Sandri went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Pitching was nothing to brag about for the Spartans either, as they gave up six earned runs, nine total, by the third inning. Kyle Lally came in for damage control after Ross' exit, but the damage had already been done.
With the win, San Ramon Valley moves into 2nd place in EBAL as they improve to an 8-3 record, 4-1 in league play. The Wolves will look to maintain their standing in league as they play another league opponent in Livermore High school on Friday.
The Spartans drop to a record of 9-3 on the year and record their second loss in league play and fall into 3rd place. De La Salle will also travel to play a league opponent in Livermore on Friday as they are set to play Granada.
EBAL play is heating up and with so many teams towards the top of the standings, the race for the title will be interesting.
