Irish shock Mitty

In one of the shockers of the season, Sacred Heart Cathedral threw a wrench into West Catholic Athletic League playoffs after beating Mitty (6-2) in the first round. Trailing 2-1 in the top of the sixth, SHC scored five runs to knock out the round robin champions. The Fightin' Irish went 2-12 in league action prior to the win.
Sacred Heart Cathedral will try to continue its run against St. Francis-Mountain View, which beat Riordan (5-2). In the other semi-final, it will be Bellarmine (3-1 over Serra) and Valley Christian-San Jose (4-0 over St. Ignatius).

In the opener of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League finals, Saratoga beat Palo Alto (8-4). Palo Alto scored the first three runs before Saratoga scored five runs in the fourth inning. The Falcons have won seven out of nine games, which includes back-to-back wins over Los Gatos last week.
College Park and Clayton Valley Charter will face off for the third time on Thursday in the Diablo Valley Athletic League finals. College Park beat Northgate (5-0) behind a complete game from Chris Brown. The Ugly Eagles beat Concord (4-2) as Austin Cannedy picked up his ninth win. Last week, College Park swept the two game series. Along with Campolindo, the trio makes up the top contenders for the NCS Division II title won by Campolindo the last four years.
From Monday, Davis outlasted Granite Bay (2-1) in nine innings with an anticipated pitching showdown delivering on the hype. Matt Trask went seven innings of one run ball with three strikeouts. Mitch Hart matched him on the scoreboard with seven innings of work. He allowed five hits and struck out six. The Blue Devils will face Vacaville on Thursday. They lost to the Bulldogs in the season opener on March 5.
Freshman Daniel Kim went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Zach Stromberg picked up the win in Acalanes' 8-5 victory over Miramonte. Austin Fisher earned the save for the Dons, which moved within a game of the Matadors in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League. Acalanes ends the regular season on Thursday against Dougherty Valley.
