Gavin keeps Lancers on top

John Gavin and St. Francis continue to roll along after the big left-hander twirled a one-hitter to beat Valley Christian-San Jose (1-0). The win keeps the Lancers a game up in the West Catholic Athletic League with a week left. Valley Christian got a two-hitter from Ben Hughes in the loss.

Senior CJ Romero pitched 6.1 innings of one run ball to improve to 8-3 in Mitty's 2-1 win over St. Ignatius. The Monarchs scored the game winning run in the bottom of the sixth. Luke Rasmussen had a home run, his fifth of the year.
Noah Bremer tossed another gem for Berkeley, which beat league leader Bishop O'Dowd (2-1). The Yellowjackets lost to the Dragons (3-2) on April 30. The Washington bound ace threw a complete eight innings allowing just one run and striking out eight. Bishop O'Dowd countered with sophomore Leo Nierenberg, who gave up just an unearned run in seven innings with five strikeouts.
De La Salle moved a game ahead of Amador Valley and swept the regular season series from the Dons with a 6-2 win on Friday. Junior Justin Hooper gave up a hit and five walks in six innings for the win. He gave up two unearned runs and struck out three batters. Michael Mcadoo went 2-for-4 with a RBI. With San Ramon Valley's win over Cal, there is a three way tie atop the East Bay Athletic League with four games left.
Cameron Keup and Hank LoForte combined on a five hit shutout in Franklin's 4-0 win over Grant. The Wildcats clinched the series win over the Pacers. LoForte had two RBI. They are settled into the third spot in the Delta Valley Conference.
The DVC will be decided on the field between Elk Grove and Davis. Both teams take an 11-2 league mark into a pair of games next week. Prior to the league showdowns, Elk Grove will play in the Boras Baseball Classic finals against Temecula Valley. Davis will host De La Salle.
Pleasant Grove capped its sweep over Jesuit with a 3-2 win in Elk Grove. The Eagles have allowed three or less runs in 15 straight games. They end the year with Sheldon while Jesuit faces Oak Ridge. Oak Ridge and Pleasant Grove are tied atop the Delta River League.
With an 8-1 win over Downey on Thursday, Gregori clinched its first league title in school history according to the Modesto Bee. Junior Tyler Janitz is hitting .438 with a team high 17 RBI. Gregori ends the regular season out of league against Escalon.
Bentley completed its sweep over Valley Christian-Dublin with a 2-0 win on Friday. Connor Ford threw six innings for his fifth victory of the season. The Phoenix have a two game series with Division V No. 1 Head-Royce next week.
