The following is a list of each of the 20 EA SPORTS All-American Boys Soccer Players, with additional information:
G - Casey Latchem (Perrysburg, Ohio) Sr.
The 6-foot, 185-pound senior set a school record for career shutouts with 33. The four-year letterman finished with a .68 career goals-against average. Latchem also was named to the National Soccer Coaches Assoc. of America (NSCAA) All-American team the past two years.
G - Charlie Sales (Sacred Heart-Griffin, Springfield Ill.) Sr.
Sales, a 6-foot-2 senior, is very athletic, which allowed him to make countless acrobatic saves last fall. The Lehigh-bound standout has a strong presence and finds a way to cover all angles. He was named the Illinois state Player of the Year and was on several All-American teams.
G - Chris Seitz (San Luis Obispo Calif.) Jr.
Only one of two underclass players on the EA SPORTS All-American team, Seitz made the Under –18 national team after recording 10 shutouts in 17 matches for SLO High. The junior is considered by many as the most skilled high school keeper in the country at any age.
D - Robbie Morgenroth (Hewlett, N.Y.) Sr.
The four-year varsity starter and three-year captain did whatever it took to help Hewlett. Whether it was controlling things in the back or making a run to create a scoring opportunity, Morgenroth came up big time and time again. He has committed to play at Princeton.
D - Pat Phelan (Wilbraham and Monson, Wilbraham Mass.) Sr.
Considered by many to be the best defender in the country at his age, Phelan will play at Wake Forest in the fall. Strong in the air and very composed in the back is what sets this senior apart from other defenders.
D - Chase Spruill (Klein, Spring Texas) Sr.
The 6-foot enforcer, who is headed to West Point, led the Bearkats to a 25-3-2 mark this past winter. His play in the back was one reason why Klein allowed a mere 17 goals all season and posted 15 shutouts.
M - Nick Colaluca (LaSalle, Providence R.I.) Sr.
Coaluca was named the National Player of the Year by the NSCAA in 2003. The Virginia-bound senior controlled the midfield, helping his team post a perfect 23-0 record. The four-year starter led the Rams to four consecutive state titles.
M - Dan DeMasters (Manheim, Lancaster Pa.) Sr.
One of the most skilled players at his position, DeMasters will play at Villanova in the fall. The senior opened a lot of eyes last summer at the ESP Camp, which features the nation’s top 150 players.
M - Steve Hecker (Portage Northern, Portage Mich.) Sr.
Hecker finished his senior season with 20 goals and 16 assists to run his career total to 53 goals and 55 assists. The Academic All-Stater will play at Michigan this fall after earning Michigan Player of the Year honors.
M - Stephen King (Shawnee, Medford N.J.) Sr.
The Maryland-bound senior scored 24 goals, but he was best known for his passing – which is one reason why he finished his final high school season with 27 assists. King led Shawnee to a 26-0-1 record and its second state crown.
M - Tolu Olowolafe (Glasgow, Newark Del.) Sr.
The Delaware Player of the Year found the back of the net 24 times, while handing out seven assists his senior season. The 5-7 Michigan-bound standout finished his four-year varsity career with 72 goals. Olowolafe earned All-State honors three of those four campaigns, and is a two-time All-American.
M - Karl Schilling (Canton, Conn.) Sr.
When the ball was in the air, nine out of 10 times Schilling won it. The senior is a member of the under-18 U.S. Men’s National Team and was named the Gatorade Connecticut Player of the Year in 2003.
M – Michael Zaher (Bishop Gorman, Las Vegas Nev.) Sr.
A defender for the Under-19 national team, Zaher plays midfield for his high school team and was the state player of the year. Headed to UCLA, he scored four goals in one playoff game last fall.
F - Xavier Balc (Hudson, Ohio) Sr.
Balc, a four-year starter, will play at Ohio State. He ended his senior season with 27 goals and 17 assists, which is one reason he was the Ohio Player of the Year and a two-time All-American.
F - Rich Costanzo (Jefferson, Jefferson Hills Pa.) Sr.
The 5-9 Penn State recruit scored 37 goals and assisted on 32 other tallies last fall. Costanzo owns the school record with 107 career goals. Also, a two-time All-American.
F - Charlie Davies (Brooks, North Andover Mass.) Sr.
The Boston College-bound senior recorded 37 goals and 14 assists last season. During his four-year career, the 5-9 speedster had 194 goals and 40 assists. Davis is a member of the under-20 U.S. Men’s National Team.
F - Kamani Hill (Berkeley Calif.) Sr.
When the Yellowjackets needed a big goal, the UCLA-bound senior came through. Hill finished the winter campaign with 36 goals and 15 assists in 24 regular-season games. He actually became the so-called interim head coach after Berkeley’s head coach resigned before the end of the season.
F - Steve Reihner (Linsly, Wheeling W.Va.) Sr.
Reihner’s 32-goal and 21-assist senior season showed why he was one of Penn State’s big signings. The 6-foot forward scored 66 goals and assisted on 46 others during his four-year career. Earned West Virginia Player of the Year honors from the West Virginia Soccer Coaches Association in 2003.
F - Nic Retzlaff (Valley, W. Des Moines Iowa) Sr.
The senior is the best player in Iowa and led the Tigers to an 18-2 record in 2003, one big reason why the Valley is off to a fast start this spring. Retzlaff was recently named the Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year to go along with his All-American honors from the NSCAA.
F - Kiki Willis (Cardinal Mooney, Youngstown Ohio) Jr.
The only non-goalkeeper underclassman on the team, this junior is a two-time All-American. His overall knowledge and skill are just two reasons why he was invited to train and play with Roda JC, a professional club in Kerkrade, Holland, last summer. Willis also received an offer from another European pro team, AC Milan, Italy.
