Wilson newest Wolverine

D.J. Wilson, a 6-foot-8, 200 pound senior from Capital Christian High School has committed to play basketball for Michigan. The Standout small forward had other offers from Gonzaga, Columbia, Boise State, and Cal State Northridge, but Michigan had the upper hand.

He had taken official visits to Gonzaga and Columbia in September, but Michigan would be his last visit on October 4th. Two days later Wilson committed to play for the Wolverines.

"It was the best fit for me, it just felt like the right place during my visit," Wilson said.

As a junior for Capital Christian, Wilson averaged 9.7 points and 4.6 rebounds a game. Wilson and Nifae Lealao (a Stanford football commit) led the Cougars to a 26-5 record as they reached the semifinals of the CIF Division V state tournament. Their goal for their senior season is to lead Capital Christian to a state championship.

"We've played together since the 6th grade, we find each other on the court and make big plays all the time. He is a great teammate, he's like a brother to me," Nifae Lealao.

Wilson joins a 2014 Michigan recruiting class that includes four players, Kameron Chatman, Ricky Doyle, Austin Hatch, and himself. Being as tall as Wilson is, the only thing he might have to focus on is adding muscle.

"My focus before I head to Michigan is to develop my body in the weight room and prepare myself for the physicality of the Big 10," Wilson said.

Many rave about how Wilson is a player who is not limited by his size. Many players who have the height he possess are limited to the game down in the post, defense, and snagging rebounds. Wilson can handle the ball, pass it, and is a great shooter. Many say his three point shooting is the best aspect of his game, which is surprising for a player with his height.

The Wolverines recruiting class of 2014 is getting even better as they are recruiting across the country. Their recruiting success can be attributed to success on the court last season.
