Perez makes the call

After recently receiving a new offer, Sheldon defensive end Antonio Perez committed to a Division I program. The Husky will be headed to the Western Athletic Conference to play for the Idaho Vandals.
The 6-foot-3, 225 pound lineman holds a 3.25 GPA and hasn't decided his major yet. He is leaning towards business because Idaho has a great business program.

On choosing Idaho, Perez said, "I really liked the college town feel of Moscow. And being from California I loved that it snows out there, and I got to experience it first hand on my visit. Coach [Robb] Akey the head coach and Coach [Eti] Ena the D line coach were great and I can definitely see myself learning a lot from them both."
In the end, Perez narrowed his list to Idaho and Army. In addition, he held offers from Cal Poly, Nevada, and Sacramento State. Perez took an official visit before committing to Idaho, and took one to Sacramento State as well. He will be visiting Army on January 27th, as they were his leaders back in November.
During the past season, Perez had 52 tackles along with seven sacks. Sheldon finished with a 5-6 record with Perez playing opposite Nate Iese, who will also be deciding on his college soon.
To finish the school year, Perez will be completing his fourth season of track, which he said is "another sport I love being apart of." He felt his strengths on the football field are his quickness and pass rushing ability. Perez is the second Husky to commit this week, along with future Sacramento State receiver Kyi Thomas.
Idaho finished only 2-10 at the end of the 2011 season, but Perez looks to help change that when he becomes a Vandal next fall.
