Nevada, San Jose State add commitments

Nevada adds another defensive back

Nevada has the East Bay and defensive backs on its mind with a second commit this week. Hercules’ Emany Johnson is the latest addition and is in a different mold than El Cerrito’s Delano Ware.

Johnson is a big defensive back at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds. He plays wide receiver and cornerback in high school, but will likely slide back to safety in college despite his ability to play press coverage and turn to track with receivers. He lacks great top end speed in clocking in at 4.81 second on the 40 yard drill at the Nike Training Camp in May.

However, he can be a ball hawk on the back end with quick reads and winning the physical battles. With his size, he can also come up and play against the run as a versatile defender.

He also has offers from Wyoming, New Mexico and Montana.

Bostic stays home with San Jose State

Playing running back at Valley Christian usually leads to a Division I landing spot. Add senior Charlie Bostic to the list with his commitment to San Jose State on Monday.

He has nice size at 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds and has been a big play threat for the Warriors this fall. Bostic has good vision, but when he see his hole, he attacks it well and can run away from defenders. He could also have a future as a defensive back, but running back appears to be the best spot.

This season, he has rushed for 816 yards and 13 touchdowns.

BYU and the Spartans have offered Bostic.
