NCP Spring Hoops Extravaganza

It will be a little more than a week after April Fool's Day proper but high school boys and girls basketball players will have the opportunity to enjoy a weekend of playing tricks on their opponents in the upcoming NorCalPreps.com Spring Hoops Extravaganza Tournament. The original 32-team field has been expanded to accomodate the demand and is scheduled for April 8-10 at Dream Courts in Hayward.

Placement will be in one of three divisions (Elite Varsity Club, High School Varsity and Junior Varsity). This is an opportunity for unsigned seniors to impress recruiters, rising juniors and the relatively unknown third year high schoolers to make impressions, plus underclassmen to begin generating some buzz. A number of NorCalPreps.com scouts will be onhand.

Carl Foster is the tournament director and offered this about the tournament: "This event will give top young players in high school a place to make a name for themselves prior to the all important 'Open Period' during the month of July. For any teams which have aspirations of being one of the top teams from greater Northern California, this is a unique opportunity to compete against and with the best in the marketplace. Our goal at NorCalPreps.com is to give both boys and girls club styled teams another tournament that highlights the spring club circuit."

For those unfamiliar with the site, Dream Courts is the largest indoor sports facility in the nation at 80,000 square feet (eventually it will top out at 400,000). Seven NBA regulation courts are currently contained within the site and will be put to good use come the April weekend. Over 20 collegiate regulation-sized courts will be available once the full buildout is completed. The Hayward site is destined to become Basketball Central in the Bay Area.
