Salesian won the Gridley Invitational Basketball Tournament with a 69-43 win over Capital Christian in the finals to move into the top spot. Senior James Akinjo (UCONN) had 84 points over the three games including 38 against Dublin in the semi-finals to win tournament MVP honors. It is the Pride's first Gridley title since 2011.
Menlo, the defending Central Coast Section Division IV champions, enter the rankings at No. 16 after winning the Burlingame Lions Tournament. Senior Joe Foley (Lehigh) is averaging 19 points with seniors Thomas Brown and Riley Woodson also in double figures. Woodson had 16 points and 16 rebounds in the championship game win over Palo Alto to win tournament MVP, according to Palo Alto Online.
Lincoln won the McDonald's Classic in Stockton by defeating Weston Ranch 73-58 in the finals. Senior Andre Kelly (Cal) is averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds while senior Ezekiel Holman is also averaging 18 points. In total, the Trojans have four players averaging at least eight points and are making more than seven 3s per game.
