Mitty wins WCAL

Mitty completed a regular season sweep of No. 1 St. Francis-Mountain View after Joe Cahn hit a seventh inning home run. Throw in wins by College Park, Saratoga and San Ramon Valley and the rankings will see big changes this week.
The battle for the West Catholic Athletic League title lived up to the billing. Cahn's home run in the seventh inning gave Mitty a 2-1 win and the regular season title. CJ Romero picked up his ninth win of the year in tossing a complete game with seven strikeouts. St. Francis ace John Gavin took the loss to drop his record to 7-1. The WCAL playoffs start on Tuesday.
With a 7-4 win over St. Ignatius, Serra ends the regular season with a six game winning streak. James Outman and Sean Watkins each had two RBI. Watkins and Matt Blais combined for three shutout innings. Serra will face Bellarmine in the first round of the WCAL playoffs.
The Santa Clara Valley Athletic League finals are set between Palo Alto and Saratoga. Palo Alto swept Wilcox (6-5, 5-0) and Saratoga beat Los Gatos (8-7, 8-0) after losing the opener 8-7. Looking ahead to the final series, Palo Alto won both regular season meetings by the scores of 18-9 and 6-4.
Jake Ackerman had three RBI in California's 7-2 win over Granada. Freshman Zach Chalmers picked up the win in relief after throwing 1.1 scoreless innings. With San Ramon Valley beating De La Salle, the East Bay Athletic League has a three way tie with two games remaining.
On Thursday, College Park completed the sweep of Clayton Valley Charter with a 4-3 win. Chris Brown threw a five-hitter with six strikeouts. College Park projects as the No. 2 seed in the North Coast Section behind defending champion Campolindo.
The Sac-Joaquin Section set its playoff bracket on Wednesday. The best game on Monday is Granite Bay-Davis, which features a pair of Pac-12 signees. Matt Trask (UCLA) and Mitch Hart (USC) will face off in one of the top pitching matchups of the season. The winner will face Monticello Empire League champion Vacaville.
