Green joins Team USA

St. Mary's-Berkeley guard Gabby Green has been the No. 1 ranked player from the start and added another chapter to her prep career with the selection to USA Basketball U19 World Championship team. We caught up with her to talk about the experience.
"I was in shock. I was very excited because just waiting up to that moment, even though it was only like 8:30 to find it, it felt like waiting forever," Green said of the Sunday announcement. "I was just really excited."

It was the third attempt at USA Basketball for Green, who also tried out for the U16 and U17 teams.
"Definitely," Green said of previous experience helping her. "Just playing basketball. Not letting my nerves get to be because I'm there for a reason."
Green is one of three 2014 graduates to make the team along with Brianna Turner of Texas and A'ja Wilson of South Carolina. She departs on July 1 for Colorado Springs before going to a tournament in the Canary Islands and finally reaching Lithuania for the World Championships starting July 18.
The NorCalPreps.com Division IV Player of the Year averaged 16 points, nearly seven rebounds, four assists and four steals per game in helping lead the Panthers to the semi-final of the Open Division this past season. With offers from virtually every program in the country, Green won't narrow down her list until after USA Basketball.
