Pinewood won the La Jolla Country Day Sweet 16 by defeating the host school 51-39. Junior Hannah Jump was named tournament MVP. Junior Klara Astrom joined Jump in double figures for the four games and the Panthers averaged eight made threes per game.


The Cardinal Newman Classic altered the rankings with the host Cardinals going 3-0 beating St. Mary's-Berkeley, Woodside Priory and Eastside Prep by an average of 29 points. Anya Choice and Maiya Flores combined for 46 points in the win over Woodside Priroy. Heritage moved into the rankings after running its record to 4-0, including three wins in Santa Rosa. The Patriots scored at least 62 points in each game,including a win over Eastside Prep.


Folsom was dominant in winning the Carwright Classic at Elk Grove High School with wins over Franklin-Elk Grove (58-31), Antelope (78-44) and Christian Brothers (76-48). The latter two are Top 20 teams as the Bulldogs make a case for top team in the Sacramento area.


West Campus avenged a loss in the 2016 finals of the Dorothy Speck Tournament by beating the Lions on Saturday 61-49. West Campus also beat Lincoln-Stockton (69-39) and Davis (70-49). Kiara Jefferson and Gaby Rones had 23 and 22 points respectively in the opening win over Lincoln.
